Providing encouragement

As a supporter, your mission is to encourage, excite, and generally make addicts feel good about accomplishments that are generally difficult for them. You can do this either on public threads (an SOS or Victory post, for example) or in a direct message (just tap their name).

Knowing that someone is listening and supporting is the most important. It’s much better to send ANY positive message (even just “Great job!”) than no message.

But that doesn’t mean it has to be complex. For example, if you receive a “5 in 5 report”, it might look like:

“Brightside says: My 5 in 5 day 1. Feeling ready to change and happy to be part of the community!”

And a great response from you might be:

That’s great to hear Brightside! We’re thrilled to have you here!

You can also try: “That’s ___ {adjective, eg. phenomenal}! I’m really impressed with _____. Well done.”
